John Baron MP Opens 2020 Fun Walk Registrations with Launch of New Website

MP and BBWCVS call on charities to register.

This year’s annual Fun Walk is set for 13 September and again it is kindly being hosted by Barleylands Farm. Last year, the event raised a record £105,000 for more than 80 charities – bringing the total raised since its inception in 2002 to £1,169,000. As per last year Basildon, Billericay and Wickford Council for Voluntary Service (BBWCVS) – itself a registered charity – will help organise the event.

Registration is now available on the new Fun Walk website www.thefunwalktrust.co.uk for local charities, schools, community groups and details have also been sent to last year’s and potential new bonus pot sponsors – courtesy of the generosity of local businesses, each participant receives a bonus (which in 2019 added £50 to every £100 raised by participants).

John said:
“We continue to grow the event and look forward to helping even more charities and good causes this year. The new website will make it easier for organisations to register and get the information they need.“

“If anyone knows of a good cause or project that could benefit then please direct them to register at www.thefunwalktrust.co.uk or encourage them get in touch via email to funwalk@hotmail.co.uk

Simon Johnson, Chief Officer BBWCVS, said:
“We are delighted to be supporting this popular and fun event for a second year. It is great to be working in partnership with local businesses to help grow and invest in the voluntary and community sector locally. Most importantly it will make a big difference to beneficiaries of the charities.”
